Bridget's Uncle Richard surprised her parents one day by showing up at their door all the way from Ireland! We had to insist on a visit since he was so close and it was fantastic to see him. The kids were enchanted and Ian has been saying "hit the scratcher" (for go to bed) ever since he came.
Josie was particularly fond of him. Maybe him naming his boat that he is building from scratch after her has something to do with it. Whatever the reason, she is a huge fan.
Ian was so excited to have Grandad visit and bestow some engineering knowledge upon him (Ian is currently obsessed with building his own "electronic" things. Here they are working on some circuits.
The kids did a little performance. Josie sang "Skidarmarink" staring at Richard. Rachel played the piano.
Ian played and I love his concentration in this shot.
This is pretty much what our summer has been looking like everyday.
