Sesame Street Week

This week we went to Sesame Street Live with Lucas and Kendra Hernandez. Rachel loved the show and was really concerned whenever all characters weren't on the stage (we had to leave for a minute because she was so distraught that the Count wasn't participating in one of the dances). It was really fun and Rachel and Lucas always have fun being totally hyper together. This picture is pre-show (it was the only time she actually sat in her seat).

Possibly even more exciting than life-size Sesame Street characters was the fact that we got her a red snow cone. Combining some of her favorite ingredients - ice and sugar - was a huge hit. Not only was her face covered, but she spilled a little on the ground and so the soles of her feet were stained red. After the show, Rachel and Lucas were running to the bus stop and Rachel fell a couple of times into the muddy snow (while very excitedly saying "crash-a-basha"), so by the time we got back on the bus to go home she was covered in red dye and dirt. I'm sure that our fellow bus passengers were speed-dialing the authorities to report the obviously abusive woman who let her child out in public in this state.

We just wanted to update you on some of the funny things that Rachel has been saying recently. She's obsessed with Peter Pan lately, and was convinced that Mr. Smee was named "Housetops." She also loves lining up all of her plastic animals to go "camping through the woods" in search of mermaids and other Peter Pan-inspired characters. As long as she doesn't think that she can fly, this obsession is pretty cute. One of her favorite characters is the little pig in the Olivia books. This has inspired her to copy Olivia in saying, "I love you anyways, too," anytime she says she loves something (or someone). It's pretty cute to have her saying I love you, but hopefully she'll figure out she doesn't always need to add "anyways, too" at the end.
