Olympic Week

Yes, we know the Olympics sadly ended a while ago, but this week has seemed pretty furiously paced and we had a few competitions that possibly rivaled the real games.
So our poor boy doesn't get a complex, we pulled out the manly dress-up clothes and he's thrilled with them. He's sporting Uncle Brian's awesome red boots and construction hat and the hockey stick is one of his favorite toys (weapons?) that Justin and Bridget brought back from Canada. Isn't he macho?
USU sponsors a great program for Logan families called "Books and Buddies." Each month they have a different theme and location where give out free books and have great projects/crafts for the kids. This month was tractors and despite Ian's face in this picture (check out the enlargement to see how annoyed he is to be looking into the sun), he was seriously in awe of the heavy machinery.
Here they are making their tractor books and then they picked out some great real books to take home that have already been read many times. Very fun!

Later in the week a great preschool mom organized an "Aggie Village Olympics" for the kids (thanks Damaris!). They had a blast competing in six different competitions (races, long jump, obstacle course, biking, slide, rolling). We thought all the kids were adorable and it was fun to see them work so hard. Here are Rachel and Abbie before they got started.
Rachel was pretty intense and did a great job. We were impressed by how closely she listened and how hard she worked. She deomonstrated some serious concentration going during the events.

Then we headed down to Farmington for a fun weekend with the whole Lee family (minus the missionary). Cory, Kristen, and Ethan were able to be here from Phoenix and it was great to have everyone together. We decided to start the festivities with a trip to the zoo. Here's almost the whole gang together watching the grand kids - or the monkeys - it was sometimes hard to differentiate.

And while we were all together we got to celebrate Payton's first birthday! Don't we have the most adorable nephews/cousins? All the kids were incredibly good and Payton got two sweet new rides on the big day.

This delicious event was followed by a three-boy bath.
Then the big boys and parents headed off to the Utah football game and had a great time. Payton didn't go, but he had to join the group picture since he was supporting the team.
While they were gone, we headed to Firetruck Park in Bountiful to enjoy the beautiful weather. This was the park that we always used to go to when Rachel was Ian's age and it was fun to see him there and realize how fast (too fast!) these kids are growing up.

The end result was a pretty sorry picture of four adorable kids.
And, who can visit Grandma and Grandpa without some serious treat intake? Not us! Ian chowed down on a Halloween dessert and loved every morsel.
Random fact about our boy: we're pretty sure he has the chubbiest tongue ever. This picture doesn't quite do it justice, but he'll be happy to demonstrate what Rachel has dubbed "fat tongue" whenever he's in your presence.
We had the pleasure of having our favorite highschooler Kassia there. Ian and Rachel were in heaven and it topped off an olympic week.
