We Finally Made It

After a couple of thwarted plans over Christmas, we finally made it down to Cedar City for a visit this past weekend. It was so nice to enjoy warmer weather and being with family. The first morning, we headed straight to Red Cliffs to soak up some warmer air. The kids were in heaven climbing, collecting, and tossing rocks into the stream. Bridget's Grandmother from Ireland was visiting and also enjoyed the beautiful rocks and stunning scenery.

Ian kept running and running after we got out of the car. He of course fell a million times, but could not be stopped. Do you think this boy has been having cabin fever in chilly Logan?

The only downside was Ian seriously has no fear and we could barely make him hold our hands. He just wanted to climb around like everyone else.

Speaking of no fear - this boy is crazy! He was going down slides at Park Discovery headfirst, stopping in the middle to try and scale off the side, and walking along the fences enclosing places. What are we going to do with him this summer? Possibly a full-body cast?

Going to Cedar is even more fun now that Parker, Kelli, and Payton live there. Rachel loves "little Payt" and was so excited to play with her adorable cousin.

Evidently, Dr. Seuss wasn't that big in Ireland when mum was raising children and she'd never read any of his stories. Rachel jumped on the opportunity and got the very first Seuss reading from her. We've never heard a funnier version of Horton Hatches the Egg ("look how he suffers...") and Rachel was absolutely enthralled.

We also got to visit with friends and Elaine made the kids' day with cupcakes. Here are Ian and Rachel with Jack, Halle, and Elsie.

We then got even more treats with cookies from Nana. Delicious!

Payton came to visit and play with Ian in the play kitchen. We're pretty sure Ian was having fun.

We were finally able to coax Rachel into a performance and she froze a little on the different piano. So, we tried again with a duet and she did a great job on her favorite, Honeybee.

Ian got in on the performance action too and went out into the hall to be introduced, jumped up to the piano, played, and even gave a bow. He has definitley been paying attention during practice time.

Grandad then read a goodnight story to Rachel and the boys decided to join in the fun. Thank you for the great trip!
