Batter up!

We started the week off by painting some pumpkins and getting over yet another sickness (this time a little cold got Rachel and Justin).

Here's our finished products (Josie got just a tiny bit of help).

Speaking of Josie, she had her 2 month appointment this week and is doing really well. She is 9 lbs 12 oz (21%), 21 3/4 in (24%), and her head is in the 16%. She is getting so responsive, it is getting more and more fun to have her around and the kids love making her "talk" and smile.

And, then we got a little Logan-style surprise of snow! It was pretty cold, but we still ventured out for a little while and within 5 minutes they had made snow angels and had a snowball fight. There is no time to dally when it's freezing!

We're pretty sure that Ian has a plan to ensure that Bridget never loses her baby weight from Josie. At least once a week either when Rachel goes to preschool or gymnastics, Ian insists that the only thing he wants to do is to make treats. Bridget and Ian have been cooking up a storm and our boy couldn't be more delighted than when he is in the kitchen baking. Bridget keeps trying to put her foot down, but who can resist this face? He is the best little sous chef around.

Rachel continues to delight with the fashion choices. One day she decided to go on a "hike" (around the apartment) and she got all decked out in this magnificent outfit.

For all of you Utah residents, Bridget's mom clued us into a great food co-op called Bountiful Baskets. It is an all-volunteer group that buys together to get better quality produce at incredible prices. They deliver to different sites throughout the state every two weeks and you go and can help sort out the food and then you take home your order. We were shocked by how much we got the first week - this is the basic order plus an "Italian" order - all of which only cost $27. We're looking forward to participating again, because it has been delicious so far.

And now for the main event - Halloween! This year we went all baseball with Rachel leading the way as Katie Casey, from one of her favorite books, Players in Pigtails (Corey). She was one of the players in the WWII era All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. She was about the cutest player we've ever seen and it was finished off at her insistence with a #4 because, well, she's 4 and proud of the fact.

The day before Halloween was even more packed than the main event. We had trick-or-treating at the Freshmen dorms, a fun dinner with friends, and a Halloween carnival. It was really busy and the kids were exhausted by the end of their first day of fun.

Here Rachel is being scared and Ian is doing what he does best - diving into his candy.

We lucked with with gorgeous weather for the big day and the kids took some more pictures showing their baseball skills.

We then headed to Main Street for some fun trick-or-treating at the downtown businesses. Ian was pretty serious about the endeavor and kept us very on task.

We had to take a little break by the Tabernacle to eat a piece of the collection and to swing off of the lightposts, of course.

We visited some friends and then headed home for dinner and a candy break. However, once the kids started eating they decided they just wanted to keep going. We let them go crazy for the night and eat as much as they want and Rachel finished off the night not wanting to finish an open pack of Skittles.

Ian was so funny with his candy and his favorite was probably a pixie stick. He got a little frustrated by how slowly it was coming out of the little tube, so he emptied it into a bowl and chowed down.

There then ensued some serious candy-induced silliness and Rachel got Josie in on the action by putting a wrapper on her head. Doesn't she look thrilled to be involved?

Despite the baseball theme, Bridget wasn't quite on her game when she boiled some water next to the crockpot and melted the dial. Don't worry it still works fine and it was hilarious to everyone since she has a history of melting plastic on accident.

And, to end off the week here is our cute baby after a busy church day...

and a silly boy who wants his picture taken whenever anyone else does.
