Thanksgiving

This semester continues to fly by and we can't believe that Thanksgiving is already over! Earlier in the week, Ian continued to demonstrate what a good sport he was by being a guest at one of Rachel's tea parties.

We loved President Monson's talk from this last General Conference on service and have been trying to make an effort to be a more service-oriented family. We thought that one way we could help the kids see the service they performed was to decorate a bare tree with leaves representing their acts of service. We finished our project this week and this was the end result. Not so many leaves, but lots of pretty exciting embellishments.
We headed down to Farmington for the Thanksgiving break and Ian dived into preparations for the feast by helping Grandma taste-test the desserts. What a kind-hearted boy. He was really in heaven, though, because he was able to help with rolls and other cooking endeavors. Lately when asked what he wants to be when he grows up he keeps saying a baker and then lists all the food that his bakery will make. It sounds like a delicious place.
Rachel was fascinated with watching the ice cubes melt in the yummy punch that we had for the big dinner (orange juice and ginger ale with cranberry juice ice cubes).
Since Rachel got her picture taken, Ian insisted on a picture of him examining his drink as well.
Josie got one of the best seats in the house for the yummy dinner.
Payton and Ian finished off with some wonderful Oreo truffles.
Rachel made them look not-so-wonderful.
On the way home we stopped in Ogden to watch Grandpa run in the Santa 5k. All of the race participants dressed up like the man himself (they provide shirts, beards, and hats) and they even have milk and cookie breaks which Grandpa declined to get a great personal record.
It was a really fun race to watch and Rachel has big plans for running in it next year.
We then stayed for the light parade like only Ogden can deliver (bagpipes, crazy dancing, scantily clad cowgirl pictures, motorcycles...). It was fun, but cold, and we were all ready to get back home after a great break!
