The Lee Family: Summer Fun

Ian had another graduation that he was excited to attend. He participated in Upstart, a computer-based preschool program that is run by the Waterford Institute and you apply through the state. Rachel did it as well and it was a good introduction to reading for our boy. He was especially excited about the treats on his big day.

We've been spending a lot of time in parks when we're not too hot. Here are the girls sharing a swing.

Clearfield City's production of Three Musketeers is in full swing and Justin has loved being the fight director and one of the Musketeers.

Ian was playing at the park with his helmet on and he still managed to get this good bruise above his eye.

Rachel decided she needed to make a house out of popcicle sticks. Here is her masterpiece.

Josie likes to wear her pants on her head.

And Rachel decided to make this beauty. She told Bridget, "You know, like the Brother of Jared (they traveled in boats that were sealed like a dish). Her crazy face is just an added mystery.

Our 4th of July was so much fun this year. It started the night before with the Children's Bike Parade. Ian LOVED it and went very slowly waving to the crowd.

This is probably the last year we can convince Josie to take a stroller.

And our cute patriotic Rachel was so proud that she didn't tip over during the parade.

We enjoyed some delicious popcicles afterwards with some great neighbors and Ian's favorite Peter Jeppesen.

Grandpa and Grandma came to the parade and fireworks with us and were treated to lovely hairdos by the girls.

The next morning we headed to the big parade and had fun being by the Dixons, Volgrinics, and Jeppesens.

Oh how we love cute Erin Dixon. Our Josie was thrilled to be by her and Ian was lucky enough to get to hang out with Peter the whole parade.

Ian's other parade highlights were giving Iron Man a high five and punching (softly) a large inflatable monkey in the stomach to see if it would tip. He did not joke around about getting candy and so here he is showing off his goods and the tent that him and Rachel slept in for the night of the festivities.

And we played water kickball with Brady and Kassia.

Other than holidays Rachel has been making castles for Josie.

And Ian learned how to ride his bike without training wheels! He still has a hard time getting started, but got it on his first attempt and has been so proud ever since.

Our Josie likes to ride around too.

We've been enjoying cherries and the crazy juice they leave behind.

And playing afternoons of "school" that are quite elaborate and leave behind even more elaborate messes.

We had a great time with swimming lessons this year and Rachel and Ian learned more than they ever have.

Rachel was a ton more confident in the water this year and does great on her glides and has a good start on backstroke and frontstroke. On the last day she braved the waterslide.

Ian was so funny to watch. He loved his teachers and had fun when they took them into the deep end.

He was under the water pretty much the whole lessons and loved the treasure hunts (diving for objects) and made everyone laugh with his crazy dance moves on the monkeys dancing on the wall game.
