We have had another great week enjoying the beautiful summer here in Minnesota. Even though we've lived here almost a year now, we are still amazed by how many gorgeous walks and parks are just right around our home. Here are a couple of pictures by Langton Lake, a small lake a few miles from where we live. It's just fun that there are so many great walks and a lot of lakes - well, approximately 10,000 according to the state slogan.
Rachel is seriously addicted to being outside. Her newest thing is carrying a medium-sized Ziploc bag on our walks to collect leaves and wildflowers.
We took Ian to the doctor this week for his 2 month visit. We knew that he was pretty big, but we were blown away when he weighed 14 lbs 3 oz (the 97% for his age). He is 24 inches long (90%) and in the 93% for his head circumference. The doctor warned us that his short genes might kick in, but right now he's headed for the big and tall stores. He is very healthy and even did well with his shots (but he has had kind of a rough few days since then). Our great pediatrician also took some time to have a heart-to-heart with Rachel about sleeping. (For those of you who don't know our nighttime woes, Rachel has never consistently slept well through the night and has lately been awake for a few hours in the middle of each night). Since the visit, we have had three much better nights. So, we hope that things will continue to be good in that department.
Other than that, we're excited to be going to Utah from the 1st to the 15th of August. We will be blessing Ian in Justin's parents ward on the 5th and are just excited to see our family for a little while before the fall semester starts for Justin. Justin is wrapping up his summer class right now and has accepted an invitation to be on the law review for the fall (This is Bridget bragging: only the top 10% of the each class are invited to be on the law review and he was also asked to be on the other student journal as well.) We're just grateful that his first year of law school is officially done! People keep telling us that it is the worst of the three, so I guess we'll see if that's true.
