Potty Power

Oh the excitement of potty training! We're on round two of this fun developmental step (we tried before Ian was born, but that went down the drain - forgive the pun - once he came along). Bridget had resisted using rewards because of the many human relations books she'd read in school about creating "intrinsically motivated" people. But, when it came to going to the bathroom, sticker charts and a talking-princess-toy-camera definitely beat out being motivated simply by the joy of the task (thanks Ally and Elaine for the great advice!). So, check with Bridget if you want a list of reading material that evidently works in public administration, but certainly doesn't apply in raising a toddler.

Other than that it was a pretty normal week of school for Justin and playgroups for Rachel. We did have a few exciting visitors for the last few days, but there will be more on that later...
