Performances and Pumpkins

This week Rachel reached a big milestone in piano - her "ten song performance." She has been taking lessons for a year now and she was able to pass off playing the first ten songs in the Suzuki book one in a row. We are so proud of how hard she has worked and now she gets to start learning two-hand songs and she is very excited about that. After each performance day Mrs. Bradford has a little store for the kids to use their "piano dollars" they have earned. Because it was Rachel's big day she was able to get this fun coloring book for free. We'll get a video up soon of the big accomplishment.

One afternoon we were out with some friends and they decided to play dinosaurs. It was mostly funny because for some reason they couldn't pretend to be dinosaurs unless they had tails. Despite the awesome mom suggestions of sticks and leaves, the tails had to be made out of "string". We got some yarn, tied it to their belt loops, and the dinosaur wildness began.

It has gotten a little chillier this past week and so we've been staying indoors more often. One day we made a little fort and read a ton of books. It is amazing how much fun a sheet, chairs, and clothespins can be.

We have a great new park in Logan and we were able to go with some friends. Everyone was trying to get on the tire swing at once and at one point they squished five kids.

Rachel has perfected the exciting new trick of hanging from her knees. The first day she figured it out she was basically upside-down for the next half hour.

We were also able to make it to the North Logan Pumpkin Walk. It is a fun event where people make scenes decorated mostly with pumpkins and squash. We were excited to see M&M pumpkins right up front since they are by far Ian's favorite thing to eat. We're not sure how good pumpkin variety would taste, though.

We thought this one was kind of funny because it incorporated the funny old barn that you see on the way into town.

Someone had even carved a pumpkin for our little man. How thoughtful!

And what is even more exciting than pumpkin displays? Fun wooden pictures with head holes! Here is Ian perfecting his magical skills.
