Fun Visits and Music Festival

We had a really fun visit from Nana and Grandad and the kids were all delighted to spend time with them!

Nana took Rachel and Bridget to the Utah Symphony's production of Peter and the Wolf. With some great dancers from Ballet West to go with the music and narration it was a wonderful introduction to Symphony Hall for Rachel. She was very polite and really enjoyed her special birthday outing from Nana.

Josie and Ian also took full advantage of the trip by getting this dinosaur book read to them about 1,000 times and playing a lot with their grandparents. Ian was thrilled that he even got a little Wii time in with Grandad (they had some moves on Just Dance 2). Thank you for the fun visit!

During the week normal things occurred like extremely dirty and happy babies and

We had a great St. Patrick's Day this year and the kids had a lot of fun finding a little leprechaun we had that kept hiding throughout the day. For some reason Ian came up with the idea to have a restaurant and he put his big sister right to work making menus, decorating, and actually serving at the restaurant. He made us laugh because he was perfectly content with coming up with the ideas and making her do the work. He was sure to put his little money box on the table so that any income would be going to him. Pretty shrewd. What was on the menu, you may be asking?

A balanced meal of pizza, hot dogs, and ginger cookies (gingersnaps). Ian's restaurant was delicious.

The next weekend Rachel had her first experience with a "Music Festival" (at the Libby Gardner Hall). She played the pieces Sugar Cookies and The Thing that is Under My Bed and did a great job. After she was done she kept saying, "they shouldn't call it a festival when no one is really having fun." Hmmm, that's something to think about all right.

We tried to make up for the lack of fun by stopping by the most delicious French bakery that we know of in Utah, Gourmandise. Ian thought his gigantic cookie was so delicious he saved some on his face.

Rachel savored her tart a little longer and enjoyed when we got home.

In other news, Josie had her 18 month appointment and we are pleased to announce a pound and a half weight gain since February when she was really sick. So even though she's in the 0% for weight, 8% for height, and 46% for head our Dr. was encouraged that at least she's gaining a little more.

Josie at 18 months is a funny girl who loves to take baths (which is great since we couldn't get her into a bath until about 13 months), is saying new words almost everyday, and loves to be outside. She loves to read books and when she picks them out at the library she cries really, really loudly when we have to hand them to the librarian to check them out. Yikes. I guess she just likes her books, right?
