Another School Year Over

 It's hard to believe that another school year is over!  Ian's preschool program was adorable.  Here he is saying, "they call me Tarzan of the Apes" and singing their funny Tarzan song which was Ian's favorite.

 It was a monkey theme and here the alligator is snapping Ian monkey out of the tree.

One of the best parts was when they reenacted the book "Caps for Sale" with cute Margaret being the peddler.

We love our preschooler!  Miss Cynthia was so sweet to say that Ian loved art and drawing, the color blue, and his favorite part about preschool was snack time.

 Rachel had a great 1st grade program which she loved preparing for (she'd come home singing the cute songs all of the time).  She's on the front row right in front of her teacher.

Here's the whole group.  They sang songs from throughout the year.  Here's Jingle Bells with sign language and Chinese.  One of the cutest songs was Each of Us is a Flower.  Just imagine cute Rachel singing this to you when you're weeding flower beds.  Believe us, it makes the chore more enjoyable.

 In English that had a great reading program where you could read extra books each night to earn beads and charms for your necklace.  We started the game late with the school switch, but she still read 226 books and  had a lot of fun doing it.

 The last week they hosted a great Author's Tea where the kids got to read their original books and show us their portfolio from the year.  Rachel's book was "Fire on the Island".  It was a lot of fun.

 Here's Rachel with her sweet Yao Laoshi.  We love this great teacher and she made the transition so much easier for our girl and was so kind about what a hardworker Rachel is in class.

Oh Mrs. Mullins!  We realize we're not too far into this whole school thing, but this teacher is incredible.  She was so kind, organized, fun, and really expected a lot of these kids.  Rachel's big accomplishment in her class was that she got 100% on her spelling words for the year.  Rachel has already started a journal of her summer to give to Mrs. Mullins and she'll miss her so much, but is excited for next year.

To celebrate our first Saturday after school let out we headed to a church 5k and had a crazy morning.  Rachel decided to run the 1K with a few friends which entailed running to a water stop and turning around.  Bridget had Josie in the stroller and Ian on the bike a little ways ahead.  The friends came running back without Rachel and it turns out that Rachel kept going on the 5K by herself!  Yikes!  Long story short, great neighbors ran with her and she did the whole thing (and Bridget's heart only stopped for a few minutes when she realized she was gone).  Ian also biked/ran farther than he ever has by doing the whole 1K minus 1 block when he took a stroller break.  Tough and silly kids sporting their 5K pins.

All this activity has made us tired around here and we're looking forward to the lazy days of summer where we can be ninjas whenever we want.

T-Ball has ended and we appreciate having Parker be a great coach.  If you want to see some of Ian's sweet skills check out this little clip (we especially love how he got on base this time).  Rachel is almost done with softball and Justin captured a great hit.
