Random Fall

Justin has been very, very busy lately with the election and so there have been a couple days when the kids either didn't get to see him at night or missed him another time.  Ian and Rachel made him these sweet notes to let him know he was missed.

Ian has taught himself how to add.  I guess Bridget's best efforts at being a negligent parent are backfiring.  One day he wanted a sheet of problems "like Rachel's" so she started him off on one or two and he ended up doing a front and back like this.  We were shocked and have since actually started doing math along with our reading books.
One day when they were playing school Josie stepped on something pokey and Mrs. Brown (aka Rachel) wrapped up her leg.  Why this sweet headband and pj pants were part of the outfit is a mystery.
Josie likes to be comfortable.  One day we came home and within a couple of minutes she was on the couch without her pants, music on, and a pile of good books.
She also likes accessories.  Here she is sporting the girl collection of sunglasses at our house.  It's good her stomach is protected from those damaging rays.
Ian's class had a fun trip to the pumpkin patch.

Miss Cynthia made some delicious treats.

And they picked some great pumpkins.

Rachel continues to love to cook and we found a kid recipe contest in the paper (the required ingredients were peanut butter and/or nutella) so she made this sandwich kabob with alternating fruit in between.  She was pretty excited about the end result.  She also wanted to read some of the old stories she wrote, which resulted in the the longest video ever.  But, if you actually watch it there is a guest appearance by an "alien" around 2:50.

I think we'll all be happy when the election is over, including our charming grandchildren.
