The Grand Prize Easter

We had a great Easter this year with a lot of fun activities. We started off the weekend with an egg hunt on the Old Main hill. It was really well organized into different age groups and we made it just in time to participate (we were running down the super steep hill with the double stroller literally two minutes before the whistle blew). Rachel was off like a rocket and had a blast with a big surprise in store.

Ian took a second to figure out what was going on, but then he...

dove right into the action and collected a ton of eggs. On the way home we asked him if he had fun and he just kept saying, "fun, candy, fun, candy." The kid is a sugar addict and was in heaven for the day.

The Easter Bunny even made an appearance and while Ian would have nothing to do with the giant, Rachel and Ella ventured a hug. We then sat down to open our loot and realized that Rachel had a note that she'd won an Easter Basket. We went down to claim her prize and it turned out she was...

the "grand prize winner" of the hunt! She was absolutely speechless when they gave her the wooden crate filled with markers, pencils, chalk, and tons of other things. Hopefully every Easter after this won't be a let down, because we had one very excited girl on our hands.

We then headed home for round two of egg decorating (we'd dyed them the day before and then added glitter and stickers this day). Ian was surprisingly into this activity and listened very closely to instructions. So closely, in fact, that when Justin said we need to dump the dye (in the sink) Ian picked up a bowl and dumped it on the table. He was so proud of the finished products that when we had a visit from Grandma and Grandpa the first thing he went to grab was the filled egg carton from the fridge. A few eggs were cracked, but who can argue with a kid trying to show off his artwork?

We then got Easter dinner ready and Rachel was so excited to help with a strawberry cake. She is really quite a good little helper and sliced and set tons of strawberries.

We were able to snap a few shots of our girl before church in her new Easter clothes. She is starting to look so grown-up, she really was so pretty.

Her favorite thing about her dress (or any dress) was that it twirled really well. Here she is showing off her spins.

While Rachel would cooperate for a few pictures, Ian would have none of it and this was the "cutest" face we could get out of him in his new Sunday best. What a goof!

We had a great Easter and hope that everyone was able to enjoy the day.
