This is the Place for Rain

We are seriously far behind on our blogging responsibilities around here, but thought we'd update some of the things we have been up to this summer. We have had unusually wet weather in Logan and because of the cooler temperatures, it has been the best possible summer to be pregnant. The kids have been loving the extra water and increased opportunities of getting soaked and filthy. One day we had some particularly hard rain and with a little coaxing from Rachel, Ian joined his sister in the downpour.

She's making a valiant effort to smile despite some serious rain in her eyes.

With all of our outdoor time, we have one tired boy on our hands. Ian has been falling asleep all over the apartment. Evidently, this boy can get comfortable anywhere.
One day we headed up to This is the Place State Park with Grandma, Grandpa, Kelli, and Payton. It was so much fun and there is a ton to do. We started off with the train and it was a definite hit.
Rachel was excited to be in the back of the train by herself. Our first stop at the park had been to Brigham Young's home and there had been a Brigham Young impersonator waiting to greet us in the lobby. Rachel had run into the house to check it out and didn't expect to be greeted by a large man in a huge hat. Needless to say, she turned right back around and checked out Brigham's gardens instead. It was pretty funny, and she'll explain she wasn't "scared", just "startled". Needless to say, I'm not sure if Brother Brigham will be her favorite for a while.

They had a great Indian village with mud houses and teepees. Rachel got to make an arrowhead necklace and judging by this picture, Ian had to participate in a very painful foot procedure.
We stopped by Z.C.M.I. to play with the toys and pick out some delicious candy. Rachel picked the not-so-authentic candy necklace, while Ian chowed down on salt water taffy.
The petting zoo was a huge highlight and they had adorable baby goats and lambs.
The kids also got to ride the horses and Rachel had to come back a second time because it was so much fun.

Ian did a great job on his first horse ride and kept saying, "giddy-up" and "yee-haw". The second time when he was picking out a horse it neighed pretty loudly in his face and scared him a little bit. So, he wouldn't ride again and went to sit by Grandpa and eat candy. Even a few weeks later, he'll still tell you how "scary" the horse was. Who knew such terrors as horses and Brother Brigham lurked at the pioneer park?

We ended the fun day by letting the kids play in the cute playhouse village.
A lot of really fun things happen at Grandma's house, like painting rocks...

and climbing on high bean bag mountains. The fun never stops.

Sarah is still afraid of the horses at TITP!! How many times have we been there? I love the picture of Ian getting smacked in the face!
