Cedar City 4th

We headed down to Cedar City for 4th of July festivities and we were able to have a great time seeing tons of friends and family. We were able to catch part of the Nelson family reunion (Bridget's mom's side) out on the farm where Nana grew up. This picture of the Howard Nelson family that was there is taken in front of the renovated home where Bridget's grandpa was raised.

To top off the nice evening with family, Ian was able to make the find of the century - an old combine harvester! Our tractor-obsessed boy was so excited to find this rusty old piece of machinery and he was very concerned that it was missing one wheel. He had to bring us all on the little walk to observe the masterpiece.

Bridget also got to see high school friends and their cute kids over the weekend. Again, there was a serious lack of pictures, but we spent a fun afternoon and evening with Elaine, Jenny, Summer, Martene, and Brooke. We at least snapped one with Brooke after the city fireworks display.

Who could go on a summer trip to Cedar City without a healthy dose of the Shakespearean Festival? Certainly not us! We really enjoyed a gypsy-themed Greenshow with the kids and Nana and then we were spoiled with a date to their production of the Secret Garden.

Ian was seriously enthralled with the Greenshow and at one point got up to dance to the music. The people around us thought he was so cute spinning around with his hand in his pocket. We're not quite sure why he had to keep checking out his favorite feature of any pants/shorts, but he was pretty cute showing off his moves.

Grandad has taken up the new and delicious hobby of making homemade bread. One of our afternoons there, he let Rachel join in the fun.

And, fun she had (yes, she is wearing a pirate costume)!

Look at that kneading enthusiasm! We might have a future scullery baker in our family.No 4th of July festivities would be complete without a parade. The kids loved the event with Rachel's favorite being the green firetruck and Ian's being an airplane.
