Party Life

This week we have been in full-swing summer fun mode. When Justin was reviewing the activities we had going on he mentioned that it was a party week, to which Rachel responded, "it's not a party week, it's a party life." It has been a lot of fun despite how hot Bridget has been lately (we certainly aren't referring to looks - strictly temperature).

Other than the fun activities, we did have a big change this week for Justin. He was called to be a counselor in the bishopric of our ward, so he's no longer an Elder Quorum President. The new Bishop and his wife are great people and she has already volunteered to sit with us during Sacrament meeting while Justin is on the stand, so that will help a lot. We're excited to see what this next year will be like and feel very humbled to be trusted with this position.
Probably Ian's favorite thing about this summer has been the plethora of lawnmowers/trimmers around our apartment. Here he is checking out the view with his two friends Sam and Nephi.

Grandpa is always so kind to help Rachel develop her excellent photography skills.

Rachel decided to make a new sign for her bedroom door and got this far into it by herself (she was trying to write "no little brothers").

Here is the finished product with Dad's spelling expertise (no little brothers except Ian).

One day Rachel decided to be a dog and let Ian walk her around. While this might seem like a disturbing game to some, Bridget was delighted with the idea of having both kids stay close together while we were outside.

There was a great Books and Buddies activity at the fire station by our home and Ian was in absolute heaven. He was checking out all the gauges and equipment in this picture. His happiness was then amplified by getting to actually...

Rachel's favorite part of the fire station party was this great "ride" they had for the kids where they pulled them over the wet tarp with an ATV. She thought it was so fun and while Ian was only up for one round, Rachel went a couple of times.

We also went on the beautiful Logan River walk. The highlights of this outing were a snake sighting and checking out the fun planet markers that they have along the trail (they chart out the planets along the walk in proportion to how they are in space).

We then had a church swimming party at the Aquatic Center and both kids had a ton of fun. They were both much more brave than last summer and Ian was absolutely daring with purposely putting his face under water and then coming up laughing (and simultaneously giving his parents heart failure). They did great on the water slides too and so we'll definitely go back soon.

Yesterday there was a fun activity for married students/families about China. The kids made Chinese lanterns and Rachel's favorite was dancing with the ribbons.
